BEFORE.
Do you see that white innocent looking dishwasher {see upper right}? Mid-August I noticed a portion of our laminate flooring looking rather water logged. We ignored the issue {so brilliant} & hoped it was from many wipes of spot cleaning with dampened papertowels. Nope. The water was seeping from our dishwasher and leaking a half cup of water per dishwasher cycle {as confirmed by our trusty handyman}. This meant a flooring overhaul and a new dishwasher. Ching ching. We lucked out in finding a great flooring guy {thanks to the powers of Facebook} and his association with a flooring company whom he used to work for. We received an excellent price on product and labour fees. As soon as we spotted a dark, diagonal faux slate we looked no further {the choices of colors & style have come along way. Not your Grandma's flooring!}.
AFTER.
During the process of removing our water damaged floors, our flooring guy uncovered three layers of old flooring. Tiles glued on concrete, linoleum then laminates. 40+ years of old flooring gone in one afternoon! This fact made me relieved that we were starting fresh.

We ran the vinyl into our powder room. Old toilet removed. Flooring guy noted further water damage from the toilet which was never property bolted to the floor!
And no one has ever used this toilet either! Such simple pleasures when it comes to home improvements.
Now this has kick started our desire to ''finish" our wee abode next year. Subway tile the kitchen backsplash and change out all hall / kid's bedroom lighting...and paint the bathrooms..and a stackable washer/dryer.
We'll get to all eventually, right?!

GORGEOUS!!! That toilet was hideaous hahahahah!!! Good thing it's gone! Totally kidding because I know how much you hated it!! The flooring is fantastico!! Oh and thought I'd let you know...remember how jealous I was of you and a new dishwasher and toilet...well the Besths and Logans should get deals together..because now...I need and new dryer...don't ask!! so we are going to do the washer/dryer/dishwasher...so my hubby says...and a New dah dah da!! TOILET!! AAB we simply are wayyyyyy to easy to please are we not...give us a new "dumper" lol pardon my words..and we are content. Love you long time and the renos look amazing! xoxo
The new flooring makes the kitchen and toilet more elegant! You actually won’t get the impression that you just used faux slate tiles instead of the real thing. Those tiles are definitely budget-friendly, and what’s even better about them is that they’re as sturdy and durable as real rock. By the way, what happened to the old toilet?
