Never Stop Believing in Wishes.
Dear Abby,
Yesterday you turned five years old. Five!? When did this happen? I know I say this every single year but each year seems to fly by quicker than the last. This year you got it. You were really excited about your birthday! Your birthday also coincided with Thanksgiving. We felt grateful to be home sharing your special day. Your birthday always falls on the Thanksgiving weekend so we feel lucky as working parents to be home with you! Yesterday we stayed home {a rainy day to boot!} to watch the requested "Gnomeo & Juliet" and ate popcorn on the couch. You sat between us and chatted throughout the entire movie telling us your favorite parts and sayings.
You now have one month of kindergarten under your belt. We think you are enjoying it. You are a creature of few words when asked about your day. School related conversation comes in spits and spats. You tell us cool things about your school day...like baking a gingerbread man for instance. Your entire class went on a hunt around the school because the gingerbread man ran away {You can't catch me...I'm the Gingerbread Man}! Or singing some sweet songs like "This Little Light of Mine" complete with hand gestures. Or learning 'en francais' or telling us about your new classmates. The weekly emails from your teachers tell us that your k-class are great listeners and transitioning really well after only one month. I can't wait for you to read to me! That day will come and you can read me bedtime books, ok?
You are our tiny dancer; petite, small boned and light. We heard a saying in a movie once... "we treat her like fine china." And that's how we feel about you. You tell me that you want to be tall like me. {So I tell you to eat your fruits & veggies and you will!}
You are our anomaly...a redheaded blue-eyed alabaster beauty. Where did you come from? We feel very lucky that you are who you are. You make us really proud every single day. We feel so thankful you are ours.
We love you. xoxo
