Diesel Powered. Uber Proud.

Today my post is all about my Dad. This morning my Dad participated in the GranFondo. A bike race from Vancouver to Whistler ~ 122 kilometers. He cycled the race in four and a half hours. My Dad is 67 years old. He trained for this day for 11 months. We are so proud of his accomplishment.
We call Dad "Diesel" {sometimes shortened to "The Dies"}, my Mom "Motor". Their nicknames have stuck over the years. This will explain the message on the bristol board which my sister Cathy is holding. Before dawn, the Aporta sisters 'raced' to Vancouver to watch our Dad whiz by us on his bike. And how he looked like a million bucks.

Dad spotted!
He gave us a wave & looked so strong! Oh, my Mom was waiting for Dad at the Whistler finish line which is why you don't see her pretty face.

Walking away we spotted this golden guy.

Dad, thanks for showing us that at any age, racing up a mountainside is possible. You prepared, you trained and you succeeded.
We love you Dies.
xoxo
