Having a boy and a girl means decorating differently {my former dream held a vision of two little girls sharing a room and having a spare third room to use!}. I'm not one to have a "theme". I stared to build up the little objects, pictures, and decorations. I applied the same technique to Hudson's bedroom. My decoration 'style' is a little willy-nilly, eclectic and all the objects in their rooms have special meaning behind them. I don't know how to properly hang pictures symmetrically so I never do {see photos}! I have serious design visions of what I really want to do but finances hold me back. {one day, one day} Here's a quick tour of their bedroom walls:
Hudson's shelf. That mini-Paddington Bear belongs to me. He's sitting on a 'vintage' Goodnight Moon book. My old bib painted by my Auntie Lilli rests on an old mirror bought in Victoria.
HUDSON'S name in hockey cards Nick purchased on ebay. The neat clip holder is from IKEA. I started to clip personal items on the bottom like Abby's handwriting - first time she ever wrote H's name down on paper. It's hanging right beside our chair where we sit together. Something eye-catching for Hudson to look at.

Two of my favorite prints grouped together. Left print ordered from sarah + abraham and the white framed print detailing Hudson's birth announcement made from a very talented graphic designer & friend Cynthia Merriman. I seriously love Cynthia's work and creativity.
Wall decorations over Abby's bed. Red decals covered by three printed birdies on felt. I bought those birdies at a now defunct store {The Petrie Dish} when Abby was a baby. Now they are hanging out in the trees, where birdies belong.
Prints and artwork hung over Abby's IKEA shelf. The left print is another beautiful original from Cynthia Merriman and larger one from sarah + abraham. Glass cranberry glasses purchased Victoria during our honeymoon. The pink glass starfish was bought on Hornby Island.
Abby's 'hard to reach' boxed shelves containing things I prefer not get broken or, ahem, mishandled. The pretty teacup is from my Mom and tucked inside are some hand knit finger puppets from Bowser Island. The Noah's Ark {Brenda MIL} and engraved ducky {Auntie Amy} were presents for my baby shower.

I know one day all those baby type items will be carefully stored away. Right now I will enjoy seeing these objects as they remind me that my children are growing up - too fast for my liking. I hope A & H love where they fall asleep at night and when those sleepy heads awake in the morning. I hope their rooms make them happy, like they do for me.

You gave me a nice view in the private rooms of A and H. Indeed beautiful things to keep.
Marion.
Their rooms look cool April. I think you've done a great job with how you've decorated. Special things that you've saved (and shown) will soon be boxed and more (new) special things will replace them. And, I bet when they're older and come across all the little things that you've cherished and saved throughout the years, they will smile and be thankful that you did. It will also re-affirm just how much they are loved and made to feel special.

I love this Blog April. A little known fact, that when I go upstairs on some pretense, I always peek into the kid's rooms. Each and every time I smile at how personal they are to each child. So sweet. My mom, when she used to visit us when you were little, did the same thing. She told me, I love to look in their rooms and see where they sleep and dream. Like Mother, Like Daughter. Your children are blessed. xoxoxo
I love the kids' bedrooms, April. You're a talented laydee! xox
I can't believe I missed this post!! Jack has the same owl as Hudson, it hangs on his door know! Their treasures are just that, so special. And so happy you love the announcements :) xo
